Commercial Analyst
Description

We’re looking for someone who can help us establish and manage systems and processes for the reporting of financial / non-financial metrics to support the growth of StructureFlow.  We have built a business and a strong initial customer base but in order to scale rapidly we need to introduce new systems, automate/streamline existing processes and improve the planning and reporting of management information.

The role will involve:

  • Helping coordinate budget and forecasting activities and ensuring clarity across the team of targets
  • Working with our different business functions across the customer lifecycle to make sure systems are working effectively for the efficient gathering of data and translation into effective management information
  • Assisting with the implementation of new systems as the business grows
  • Helping our business functions (particularly those customer facing) access and interpret the financial and non-financial metrics they need to run their teams effectively

Reporting into the Head of Finance & Operations you will be our first full time hire into the Finance & Operations team with the opportunity to take a key role as we build out these capabilities.  We expect you will have finance experience, a keen interest in and appreciation of technology and be comfortable working across our business driving a better understanding of our performance and more data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities
Project management and business process innovation

You need to have sufficient project management expertise to be able to shape and deliver internal projects and work effectively across functions to make change happen.  Areas of focus will be the revenue generating areas of the business and the data flows / interactions between Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, Legal and Finance. Potential project areas include:

  • Customer lifecycle
  • Workflows and reporting in CRM
  • Intersection between sales and legal
Business planning and modelling
  • You will support our Head of Finance & Operations in the development and updating of business plan models for budgeting/forecasting purposes and to support fundraising and investor discussions.
  • You will support our Head of Growth with the planning and implementing of compensation plans linked to revenue growth.
Performance Measurement

You will work with the Head of Finance & Operations to improve the application of financial and non-financial metrics across the business. This will include:

  • Building an understanding of core systems and data sources and helping define and implement means of monitoring and reporting.
  • Considering the quality of our reporting, identifying gaps and implementing changes to improve information quality for the wider team, management and external stakeholders.
  • Assessing opportunities for how we streamline or automate the production of performance metrics (including publishing of dashboards, insertion into Board packs, investor comms).
  • Assisting in related activities such as external benchmarking and cohort analysis.
  • Providing advice and support to colleagues to promote better decision making throughout the company.
Technology Exploitation

You must have an interest in and an aptitude for making the most of information systems to improve process efficiency and information quality. This includes looking at how we can make better use of the systems we are already using as well as running projects to implement new systems to help the business scale. Activities will include:

  • Improving the configuration and integration of existing systems tooling (such as HubSpot (CRM), Xero (financials), Microsoft SharePoint and a range of other internal tooling.
  • Assisting in the assessment and potentially the implementation of new tools/technologies when required (future candidates include subscription management, equity management, contract management).
  • Some systems administration responsibility for key systems.
Experience

We are looking for someone with many of the following:

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience at a start-up or scale-up SME, B2B SaaS company.
  • Finance training and at minimum some relevant part qualifications
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Adaptable and organised, you’ll successfully prioritise, driving the right things forward at pace, and dealing with changing circumstances in an agile manner.
  • An analytical mind with good problem-solving skills and a love of numbers.
  • Excellent attention to detail - you value getting things right.
  • The ability to communicate complex problems simply with a variety of stakeholders and act as a bridge between

With bonus points for:

  • Prior experience working in law, finance, or regulated industries/clients, or a sales/marketing background is an advantage.
  • Customer analytics experience e.g. lifetime value modelling, unit economics, segmentation, etc.
  • Finance qualifications or part-qualifications.
  • The ability to work with large, complex and sometimes fragmented datasets (have strong Microsoft Excel proficiency) – experience with data modelling/visualisation tools would be a plus.
Remuneration & benefits
  • Full-time position with an annual base salary of up to £55,000 (depending on experience).
